During the spring, the Czech brand SMS CZ launched a new generation of the Ontario disc cultivator with working widths of 5 and 6 metres. The popular Teran N roller, Smart seeding machine and Cambridge rollers have also been given wider working widths.
"We have listened to our customers wishes and requests and launched the new third generation Ontario disk cultivator. The new disc cultivator has an integrated axle between the front two rows of discs and the rear roller. The new unit is shorter compared to the previous generation and has better manoeuvrability, especially on the headland. Placing the axle at the centre of the machine also makes the subsoiler more efficiently loaded, which has a positive effect on even tillage," Petr Jirsa, Managing Director of SMS CZ, s.r.o. lists the main benefits of Ontario.
The Ontario 500 and 600 are available in working widths of 5 and 6 m. The innovative design, with the centre of gravity closer to the drawbar, prevents the machine from swaying at higher working speeds and results in an even working depth. In addition, the free space between the disc section and the rollers eliminates clogging of the machine.
The new Ontario has a hydraulically folded, semi-supported, two-piece frame. The machine is fitted with two rows of 510 mm diameter discs as standard, but can be fitted with 560 mm diameter discs on request. The discs are mounted on maintenance-free bearings and strength tines resiliently secured by rubber silent blocks. The design advantage is that the two tines are always welded on one connection plate, thus achieving a rigid connection of the working unit to the frame. A wide range of rollers is available, from the basic tubular roller to the double U or V cracker roller. Using clips, the working depth of the Ontario can be adjusted up to 12 cm. The wide 10/75-15.5 support wheels are also suitable for soft or waterlogged ground. The basic equipment of the machine includes a braked axle, lights and side fenders, which catch the material away from the edge disc, thus working the field evenly. A tow vehicle with a category 3 hitch and a minimum of 200 horsepower is required to operate the machine.
"In the future, we plan to expand the product range of disc cultivators with additional accessories such as a flexible skid or a cutting roller in front of the disc section. In the future, we plan to upgrade the 800 model with an 8-meter width," adds Jirsa.
The list of this year's novelties does not end there. Along with the new Ontario, the innovative popular Terran 300 N roller was also launched. New models with a working width of 1.5 metres and 2.6 metres have been added for the maintenance of grassland in vineyards and orchards. Two additional machines with working widths of 3.5 metres and 4 metres were also launched. "The 3.5-metre-wide version is designed for the Baltics, where legislation allows machines this wide to move on the road. The four-metre version is destined for Canada, where there are no road restrictions," specifies Jirsa. The new SMART seeding machine with a working width of 4 m is also intended for the Canadian customer.
We must not forget the Cambridge rolls, where the working width has been expanded. The version of the machine with a semi-supported five-piece frame can now be ordered up to a working width of 12 m instead of the original 10 m.
"All machines are in stock and available. Any interested clients can immediately put the new machines to work without being limited by long delivery times," concludes Jirsa.
